Equine Zone Visits
Chine House Veterinary Hospital is please to announce the return of equine zone visits.
These visits are very similar to the scheme we offered prior to the 2019 pandemic, however, there are a few changes.
We hope that the visits will improve our efficiency and offer a discount to our clients. Alongside the reintroduction of zone visits, we are altering how we charge for visits to multiple patients. Previously a free visit was given if five or more clients were sharing the same call out. We will now offer a free visit if four or more patients are seen, regardless of the number of clients.
What is a zone visit?
- Zone Visits for routine procedures listed below are an alternative option to standard visits.
- They are restricted to a particular day of the week per area and do not allow a specific time of visit or vet to be requested.
- There is a visit fee of £20 per client.
- The cost of the service provided, e.g. vaccination, will be charged on top of this at the normal price.

Tuesday
Green Zone: North/East
North of A47, East of A46
Wednesday
Red Zone: South
South of A47 (East) and A46 and A511 (West)
Thursday
Blue Zone: North/West
North of A511, West of A46
Who is eligible?
All clients. New clients or ‘payment at the time clients’ will still be required to pay at the time of the visit as usual.
What services are available?
Available services under the ‘Zone Visit’ scheme:
- Vaccinations (includes basic health check)
- Routine Dental
- Medication Reviews
- Microchipping
- Identification
- Blood Samples
Note—Further examinations may be required following an initial examination performed under a zone visit; these may not qualify for further zone visits.
Unavailable services under the ‘Zone Visit’ scheme:
- General examinations
- Advanced Dental Cases
- Ultrasound
- Radiography
- Pre-Purchase Examination (PPE)
- Endoscopy
- Reproductive Services
- Castrations
- Sedate to Clip/Dentist/Farrier
How do clients book?
- Visits must be booked by 4pm the Thursday before the desired appointment at the latest.
- Appointments cannot be made on the day of the desired visit.
- Visits are booked on a first come first served policy and in some areas may be fully booked prior to the closing time.
- Clients will be given a 1 hour time slot for their visit no later than the day before the visit
Important reminders re zone visits
- We will never refuse to visit a horse if, for example, a vaccination must be performed the next day. If no zone visits are available another vet will attend be able to under a normal visit at an agreed time and the standard visit fee will apply.
- Specific times cannot be booked. If a visit for a specific time is required, we would be more than happy to provide this service and the standard visit fee will apply.
- Appointments cannot be booked with a specific vet but a zone visit will always be from one of our team of experienced equine vets.
Reminder of visit charges
- If 4 or more horses seen at a visit there is ZERO visit charge. This can be booked for a specific vet at a specific date/time.
- If there are 3 or more clients, a normal visit will be cheaper for each client. Again, this can be booked for a specific vet at a specific date/time.
