Ultrasound

Ultrasound is used to take images of soft tissue structures.
We can use our ultrasound scanner to examine the abdominal and thoracic (chest) cavities.
- Information can be gained about the stomach, prostate, kidneys, liver, spleen, intestines, bladder and uterus, as well as the adrenals and pancreas.
- Colour flow ultrasound enables us to assess heart problems and investigate heart murmurs.
- Pregnancy diagnosis can be performed from 30 days post-mating.
Endoscopy
Endoscopes allow us to visualise areas inside the body.
We have four endoscopes:
- A flexible bronchoscope for looking inside the respiratory tract.
- A gastroscope for examining the gastrointestinal tract and removing oesophageal and some gastric foreign bodies.
- A range of rigid endoscopes – these are used to examine the nasal cavities of dogs and cats and to explore the body cavities of reptiles and birds.
Anaesthesia
We have multiple anaesthetic stations.
- All anaesthetics are monitored by one of our fully trained and experienced veterinary nurses.
- A range of monitoring equipment, including pulse oximetry, blood pressure and capnography, is available.
- Automated ventilation is available where necessary.
In-house laboratory

We are proud to run our own in-house laboratory.
- Most routine samples can be run in-house and results are normally available on the same day.
- Where more complex testing is required, these may be sent away to external laboratories.
- Our vets are able to interpret the results and advise on appropriate treatment.
- We also perform in-house cytology and can carry out culture and sensitivity on bacterial samples to guide appropriate antibiotic prescribing.
